Well, speak of the Shirikon Chounaikai!

So, merely a day after this post is the upload date of a NicoNicoDouga upload;

爆笑問題のシリコン町内会・96年6月末くらい？

Yeah, so I posted about a week later. I tend to like taking a bit of time on pad out my postings. ^^;

I’m gonna assume once again that folks at NND are posting things in response to the blog again. Which is always a good thing.
I really appreciate this stuff. 🙂
I owe a lot to the Satellaview fans that browse and upload to NicoNicoDouga; without them, this blog may not have come to exist.
I hope that, sometime (particularly after I learn some Japanese better), I’ll be able to give back to them in a more direct manner.
For now, though, hopefully this simple message will work:

Bakusho Mondai no Shirikon Chounaikai is a radio program, it’s format being pretty similar to the various other ones I’ve obtained so far.
シリコン町内会 translates to “Silicon Neighborhood Association”, and the show seems to cover various Nintendo news and games.
The title of the NND up suggests that no one is certain exactly when this particular episode broadcasted. It’s tentatively marked on the June 1996 date because… well, about mid-way in, a Nintendo 64 radio ad is prominently featured. It’s kinda eerie to think about, actually… that ad may have marked a moment when the Satellaview’s days were numbered.

BTW, the audio doesn’t quite match up with what the ROM shows. There’s likely more episodes yet to be heard.

Taking a look at Bass Tsuri No.1, through NND videos.

Slow in actual news, so today I thought to check NicoNicoDouga and, well, whadayaknow! Someone uploaded a pretty long playthrough of “Shigesato Itoi no Bass Tsuri No. 1”.

The fishing sim for the SNES has an enigmatic “Satellaview” option much like Derby Stallion 96 does… ohhh, if only I could check it out. D: But, alas, instead we’re gonna watch some casual fishing.

Coincidence? What timing for more BS Fire Emblem videos!

It seems a short while after the announcement of the remake of BS Fire Emblem on the Nintendo DS, a NicoNicoDouga resident decided to celebrate by uploading videos of Episodes 3 and 4, finishing up a video series I sought complete for a while.

I’m gonna mirror Dai-3-wa up here, folks! Finally, we’ll hear Rickard’s voice!… and he kinda sounds more or less like I expected him too, strangely enough.

UNRELATED BUT STILL COOL STORY BRO – Japanese XBAND

<_< Excuse the title. Eh-hem.

Unfortunately news is slow today, so I’m gonna put up something less directly-tied to the Satellaview than the previous posts. (Ok, so besides being on the Super Famicom there’s hardly a tie at all. eh.)

Hopefully a few of the hardcores here know about the XBand – the dial-up netplay system for [your favorite 16-bit gaming system that wasn’t the TurboGrafx16]. Many people have fond memories of it in the USA. Most of these people may not have even the faintest clue what the Japanese XBand communities were like or what games that they played. Today, I’ve found one.

In this video, an XBand subscriber in Japan checks out various strings of JP text and then has a few rounds of Puyo Puyo against rivals.

Finally, video for BS Fire Emblem.

I put off putting this in a blog because I was so busy squealing over it and linking it at Serenesforest and the BS Zelda page. But now I figured I delayed it long enough.

Unlike the previous BS Fire Emblem uploads I put up, these feature both gameplay -and- soundlink. The best of both worlds. 🙂

Also, make note of the CG art – that art is not in the ROMs. Where did they go? 🙁
