A Satellaview research blog.

Because I can’t properly integrate this into the blog yet…

Here’s a link to my Twitter.

I’ve been using it a lot more lately! In particular, I’ve been attempting to communicate with Japanese Satellaview fans over Twitter. With crappy Google Translate Wapanese, I’ll admit, but it’s better than nothing… hopefully!

Among some of the interesting things I’ve learned:

1) Many Japanese folks romanize the system as “Satella-View”, in spite of Nintendo’s official logos for it.
2) It was considered an expensive setup, and a few folks who may have wanted it didn’t get it because of the expense.
3) As expected, Yoshi no Panepon is one of the most well-known titles. Of course, Radical Dreamers is frequently mentioned, as well.
4) I frequent get commented on when I follow these people. 😛 (Indeed, I’m basically being a total madman here.)
5) There is at least one other person interested in dumping and archiving 8M Memory Pack ROM files. 🙂

I’m hoping to enhance the communications between Satellaview fans, and maybe attract the attention of more archivists – or perhaps people from older Japanese ROM scenes who may have held on to otherwise-long-lost ROM dumps. I’m hoping that I can get more folks interested. And that I’m not embarassing myself -too much-…..

Diglett dig!

More schedule romanizing!

Unfortunately, August 7th through August 13th, 1995 seems like it was a fairly boring week in regard to new content. The only new entries appear to be followups to the enigmatic “Hyaku Monogatari” series and a demo version of Akumajou Dracula XX (which is different from the retail, shrinked from 16 to 8 mbit). Everything else was already listed in the previous week which ChronoMoogle covered.

New ROM dump Forces me to Force out a new pun. (Plus some redumps)

Before I get into the details of this ROM dump, let me attempt to elaborate on some credits to be given, because this is a bit complex.

A bit earlier in the year, I arranged in the SNESFreaks community a small group to purchase a chunk of Satellaview 8Ms. Some of the ROM dumps coming out, including the following ROM and some from later on – including a notable release I’m saving for my annual birthday ROM – are going to be from this set. The people involved in this include SNESFreaks community members ChronoMoogle, lytron, RedScorpion, Yankee, Wilo, Marcoeagleeye, and Tenchu, and all the 8Ms were dumped by ikari_01.

(Updates on who to credit for what specifically may be pending.)

On the ethics of profitting off of Satellaview ROM hack repro carts.

Lately, there has been a surge of BS Zelda (and a Radical Dreamers) repro carts appearing on eBay. This is in spite of the fact that Mottzilla earlier set up an officially endorsed repro cart seller specifically to attempt to avoid this circumstance.

This auction, for example, is just the latest in the string.

I would like you all to think of something before seeking out these repro carts yourself.
