A Satellaview research blog.

I am trying again to do a new blogpost (with some trial versions + leftovers)

Hi ! it’s me on the air again. Yeah, I know than I am recurrent in the latest blogposts, but I try to be useful and yeah sadly, we didn’t find something better or just insane as BS F-Zero GP2 (I sort of predicted/teased it in the WaiWai & Kirby blogpost), but we have soooooo much things to release right now :

The first memory pack contains a “trial version” of Shougi Zanmai !

yeah “trial version” is in quotes because it has the same content than the SFC Retail but it has 3 limited starts according to Satellaview Tsushin from February 1996 :

“放送されたお試し版の内容は、製品版とまったく同様だったぞ。つまり、対局も、詰め将棋も、シューティングも、みんなまとめて楽しめたのだ。ただ回数制限があって、3回プレーで終了というスタイルだった。それでも、じっくり遊んでもらえたんじゃないかな。お試し版は残念ながら21日で終わっちゃったけど、再放送に期待したいよね。”

“The content of the trial version that was aired was exactly the same as the product version. In other words, everyone could enjoy playing games, playing chess, and shooting all at once. However, there was a limit on the number of plays, and the style was that it was over after three plays. Even so, I think they were able to take their time and play with it. Unfortunately, the trial version ended on the 21st, but we look forward to the rebroadcast.”

Source : Satellaview Tsushin – No. 9 February 1996

In the data itself, most of 00 bytes are replaced with FF ones.

Well, let me give you the broadcasts list :

1995/12/16~1995/12/22(2 times per day)
1996/01/15~1996/01/21(2 times per day)

This one is… kinda disappointing.

Its seems to be another SD Gundam GNEXT Data Pack distributed which as the name suggests adds more than 30 extra Mobile Suites (generally from older SD Gundam games).

But when I checked the ROM and compared it with the regular MAP Data one, the data was 95% identical. The only difference is than it doesn’t include the 6 extra Maps from Map Data

Fun fact : it was supposed to be distributed from January 1st 1996, but it has been delayed :

☆SDガンダム追加データ放送開始

“衛星対応ソフト『SDガンダムGNEXT』の追加データが1月16日(火)からオンエア開始。当初の予定では1月1日の放送開始だったのが遅れてしまい、プレイヤーのみなさんお待たせいたしました。もちろん、今から『SDガンダムGNEXT』を買う人も、まだ間に合うよ。”

☆SD Gundam additional data broadcast starts

“Additional data for the satellite compatible software “SD Gundam GNEXT” will begin airing from January 16th (Tuesday). The original plan was to start broadcasting on January 1st, but the broadcast was delayed, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Of course, there’s still time for those who buy “SD Gundam GNEXT” now.”

Source :

Let me give you the broadcasts list :

1996/01/16~1996/01/31(4 times per day)

It was aired during a very short period because it has been replaced with Map Data one from February 1996 (its kinda a V2 of MS Data since than its include the 30 Mobiles Suites + 6 extra Maps)

This one include another magazine of Uchida Yuki Yuugure Street Kids, but this time the one from 1995/09/09.

And yeah, Lily Franky made a small cameo in this ! (as in others ones like 1995/07/29 and 1995/05/20 but I disgress)

If you want to know what is the content of this, the “かべ新聞ニュース” has a nice summary of this :

“極秘情報によると、「内田有紀大改造計画」なるものが進行中らしい。と言っても、有紀ちゃんが改造人間にされるわけではなくて、「夕暮れストリートキッズ」のコーナーを一新するという計画の事なのだ。彼女にやってほしい企画があれば、番組あてにハガキを送ろう。レギュラーコーナー「ブラックメール
フリートーク」や「バーチャルポエム2001」など楽しさ120%!君とシュールな時間を過ごそうぜ!!”

“According to top secret information, something called the “Yuki Uchida Major Remodeling Plan” is underway. However, this does not mean that Yuki-chan will be turned into a modified person, but rather that the plan is to completely change the “Yuugure Street Kids” section. If you have a project you would like her to do, send a postcard to the program. Regular corner “The BLACK MAIL” 120% more fun including “Free Talk” and “Virtual Poem 2001″ ! Let’s spend a surreal time with you !! ”

Also, its contains leftovers (in fact 5Mbit) from a trial version of Super Chou Genjin 2 let me give you some details than I got about this :

Internal name :
Size : 8Mbit
Maker :
Differences with the retail : you can try 12 major transformations and also play bonus games. You can play until one stage is completed.
Broadcasts list :
1995/06/12~1995/06/17(3 times per day)
1995/06/18、06/23(1 time per day)
1995/07/24~1995/07/30(2 times per day)
1995/08/07~1995/08/13(1 time per day)
1995/09/04~1995/09/10(1 time per day except 09/06)
1995/10/04~1995/10/07(1 time per day)
Also here a picture footage :

This memory pack contains a trial version of Ranma 1/2 – Ougi Jaanken. (this is kinda fun when you know than the anime of this serie has been released recently)

It take 3Mbits instead of the 8Mbits from the SFC Retail, and only the VS Mode + few characters can be played.

I have the official description which promote this trial game :

“落ちものファン必見!!あのらんまがパズルで楽しめる。さっそくトライだ!!”

“A must-see for fans of falling items !! Enjoy Ranma as a puzzle. Let’s try it now !!”

(Game Museum Building)

Also, it contains some corrupted leftovers of Wario no Mori Event Ver.1 (Premiere Variant).

Here the partial broadcasts list (yeah partial because I don’t have the entire one) :

1995/07/10~1995/07/16(2 times per day)
1995/07/31~1995/08/06(2 times per day)
1995/08/21~1995/08/27(2 times per day)

Sadly I don’t have the rest of broadcasts, but as I know, it has been reran for the last time during 1996/01/04.

Well, this trial version is corrupted so the zip file include the original dump + Checksum fixed one.

P.S. : No-Intro, if you see this post, consider this trial version as bad dump because we couldn’t know (for the moment) where the corruption is.

Ranma 1/2 – Ougi Jaanken (Trial Version) |

This one contains a trial version of Panel de Pon. Precisely, only Endless, TIme Attack, and 2P Vs. Modes can be played.

Now let me furnish the broadcasts list :

-Original broadcasts-

1995/09/21~1995/09/27(2 times per day)
1995/10/02、05、07、09、12、14、16(1 time per day)

-2nd Satellaview broadcast period reruns-

1996/03/31~1996/04/13(1~2 times per day)
1996/07/14~1996/07/20(2 times per day)
1996/08/25~1996/08/31(1 time per day)

We have just to find Event Ver.1, and we will have every Panel de Pon games/versions from Satellaview !

And now the rarest / most insane one :

Before talking about this, let me give you some context :

1 year ago, LuigiBlood showed to me in dm some screenshots of this dump and this one kinda intrigued me. Some members of the team was thinking than it was an older version/prototype of an SFC game, Jigsaw Party.

But, its in fact the first dump of an episode of Yuki no Jigsaw Kids than we got !

But if you ask : “WhY iT dOeSn’T hAvE tItLe ScReEn ????” – Someone not familiar with Satellaview

This is because the name of the game was undecided during this period (It only got the name of Yuki no Jigsaw Kids from Late June 1995) :

☆ゲゲーッ?!有紀の〇〇!?

“内田有紀のジグソーゲームの正式名称がついに、決定した!その名はなんと「有紀のジグソーキッズ」だ。あまりに安易なネーミングなので有紀ちゃんもビックリ!?”

“The official name of Yuki Uchida’s jigsaw game has finally been decided! The name is “Yuki no Jigsaw Kids.” Even Yuki was surprised because it was such an easy name !?”

Source :

The internal memory pack name which says than its a rerun and the header date (5/10) makes me firmly believe that this is a rebroadcast of the third episode which has been aired for the first time between May 6th and May 13th 1995 !

As I know there has been 41 episodes of Jigsaw Kids between April 23th 1995 and February 3th 1996.

Yeah because from Early 1996, it has been replaced with Yuki no WaiWai Kids (which has been aired until the March 30th 1996 which I call “The First Carnage” since than A LOT of programs has been stopped at this date).

Anyway, this episode just include some Uchida Yuki & Dinosaurs puzzles.

Yuki no Jigsaw Kids (1995/05/06) Rerun |

That’s all for the moment, but we’ll have so much more to release during the next months. so, stay tuned !

Final dumps and redumps of the year

This is my final Satellaview dump post of the year, from LuigiBlood 🙂

I’ve accumulated a bunch of dumps and redumps in the past few months, and it’s way overdue again to give the updates, so I’ll seperate it the post in three parts, from three different dumpers.

From j4m13c0, we got a Memory Pack dump of two things:

This memory pack contains Kanaderu Score, and is ACTUALLY DOWNLOADED as it is dated, and it actually contains a song from Ryoma de Yuku, one of the RPG Tsukuru 2 games!
So you could edit and see the composition of it, which is a nice bonus.

Then there’s a magazine called Yusuke Akamatsu Theater, it seems to be a story written by Yusuke Akamatsu, and ends with an advertisement of an album by the same person, published by Shinko Music Entertainment.

The download includes a seperate version of the magazine, and the full Memory Pack dump with the Ongaku Tsukuru content. Both were originally deleted, but were recovered, so we cannot confirm if the data is actually good, but it seems to be alright.

Yusuke Akamatsu Theater (5/7) |
ROM Download

From PsyKo, we got an interesting dump:

This is a demo of Harvest Moon, which was previously dumped, but the data was originally considered bad, this one however has not been deleted, and its integrity is confirmed intact. It is slightly different from the other dump, but 99% of the data is identical.

This is worth it just to have some confirmed intact dump of this demo.

(Demo)
ROM Download

Then, the rest of this post are all dumps from PrincessBeef, who has been really busy buying a bunch of these Memory Packs, and we cannot thank her enough.

First of all, let’s begin with a bunch of games that came from retail builds:

This is Air Management II, aka Aerobiz Supersonic in the US, this is 100% identical to the japanese retail Super Famicom build except for the header, of course.

ROM Download

This is self explanatory, this is Space Invaders – The Original Game, the remake for Super Famicom, also known for having a smaller version inside the Game Boy version for the Super Game Boy.

This is also 100% identical to the japanese retail Super Famicom version, except for the header again.

Space Invaders – The Original Game

Next, some magazines with some extras:

First, another magazine of Yuuki Nae no GE-MU no Tsubo (Yuuki Nae’s Game Jar in english) was dumped from a different date, with different funny drawings based on games, a profile of a game developer, in this case, it’s Hideki Konno, as well as a presentation of Konae-chan no Dokidoki Penguin Kazoku, which is actually the game where Yuuki Nae stars in!

And then includes another dump of Konae-chan no Dokidoki Penguin Kazoku in it, which was already recently dumped and released by Forest of Illusion, it’s a different version of the game that isn’t an Event version!

There’s also some leftover data of what looks like graphics but I couldn’t figure out more about, but I left it in the full Memory Pack dump included.

ROM Download

Now this magazine has confused me a lot. I’ve just shown… all of it in these 3 images.

This is apparently Lily Franky Theater (which was origniall, titled Manga here, but… there’s nothing? It just says “Discarded”. I cannot seem to find anything more about this…
Maybe it was something that was promised and then it didn’t happen and made the most useless content data ever?

It also contains a lot of leftover data in the full Memory Pack dump of what looks like Wario’s Woods, but it’s not placed the same way, so this might be something undumped…?

Lily Franky Theater / Manga (5/13) |
ROM Download

Cheap de Gorgeous Vol. 5! What was previously dumped was Volume 1, this is a cooking magazine, with a bunch of recipes and sometimes people talking with each other, it was unfortunately “deleted,” but we fixed it.

Vol. 5 (5/7)
ROM Download

Vol. 5 (5/7)

Next, some redumps, these next two are identical to previous dumps except the dates so I won’t bother writing much about them.

Wario no Mori Futatabi (Redump, 6/16) |
ROM Download

ROM Download

And I kept what I feel is the best for last:

We got another RPG Tsukuru 2 game, BS KureKure Mou Race! A game that you have to finish to then get a password to send via post card and receive prizes on a first-come, first-served basis.

This seems to be the February version, as the name might suggest, but seems also to be the second one.

ROM Download

And that’s all of them!

Thanks again to j4m13c0, PsyKo and PrincessBeef for their time to bring these dumps to the public!

SD 2 Gundam with a redump

LuigiBlood here, bringing now a redump of SD Gundam G-Next’s GNEXT MAP DATA with a different date: 2/25.

This redump was done by techknight! However if I was just going to bring this dump and that would be it, that wouldn’t be fun isn’t it?

Because there’s little to no instructions on how to actually make use of this extra content for SD Gundam G-NEXT, it gets really confusing and fast, I have done my research.

First of all, load SD Gundam G-NEXT with the Memory Pack with this extra content with the emulator of your choice. The game will absolutely NOT tell you the data has been loaded, making it extra confusing to figure out.

In the main menu, there’s a Scenario mode, a Campaign mode, and what’s called ConfigMap mode. The Satellaview content can only be accessible via the ConfigMap mode where you can set up a custom single player or multi player match with the map and units of your choice, so select that mode.

You can now select maps, and you will need to select three types of maps: a Earth map, a Space map, and a Moon map. All three types are required to start.
The main game contains 7 maps of each type, the extra content brings 3 new Earth maps and 3 new Space maps, here’s a list of them:

Once you selected one of each type, press Start, you will now see the Rule Configuration screen.

The rule config is comprised of 3 pages, you can go to the next page with Select, watch out that the B Button will go back to the Map Select!

I will actually try to explain to the best of my abilities, everything:

  • Page 1:
    • COMMAND: The amount of orders you can give to units in a single turn.
    • TURN: The amount of turns in a match.
(Army Mode): The amount of army organizations that can be selected (explained later).
(Victory Conditions): Switch conditions that defines a victory.
    • PLAYER: Defines up to 4 players if they’re either Human, Computer or None (NOT)
(Production Mode): It seems to be related to unit production but I haven’t fully understood it I apologize…
  • Page 2:
    • ORGANIZATION: You can select army organizations here per player, I will explain what’s going on about it after this list.
    • CAPITAL: The starting military funds of each player can be defined here.
    • TEC: Unit Production Technology, it can be set between 1 to 20.
  • Page 3:
    • CAPTAIN MS: You can select a Mobile Suit captain… but I don’t understand how it works.
    • SOUND: You can select between Mono (モノラル) and Stereo (ステレオ) here. For some reason, Mono is the default.
(Supply): You can select between Manual (マニュアル) and Auto (オート)
    • BGM: You can select music for a specific player’s turn.
    • CONTROL: You can select a controller for a specific player’s turn.

Press START once you’re done, to start playing.

Now, a word about the Organizations: Army mode in the base game can be either 6 or 12, here’s what can be selected per player:

  • Army Mode 6:
  • Army Mode 12:

When you have the extra content enabled, Army Mode will change to either 7 or 13, here’s the flags available in that case:

  • Army Mode 7:
  • Army Mode 13:

This flag is the new military organization available.

Hopefully this will clear up a lot of things, I also tried to look up differences between the retail Memory Pack release and the Satellaview download release, but I couldn’t find anything really different.

Now here’s the redump from techknight that you can use:

This dump is no different from all of the others except the date.
