A Satellaview research blog.

Dropping a CD dramabomb.

A Twitter-inspired posting!

I’ve done a good bit of using my YouTube channel as an excuse to post up whatever the heck I feel like, but lately I re-uploaded there some things from NicoNicoDouga that caught my interest.

CDドラマ ファイアーエムブレム-紋章の謎-「約束の土地へ」

For extra clarification, I’ve been uploading Fire Emblem CD Dramas, starting with the “GFantasy” adaptation of “Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryu to Hikari no Ken”.

I made a bit of an aside tweet about this and got an interesting bit of trivia from it!

@kiddocabbusses This is a very nostalgic! I have all volume of this CD. BSFE and this CD were the same voice actor.

WOOHOO, Satellaview connection! I knew some of those voices sounded familiar…

I tried digging into this for extra verification. VGMdb lists some of them in it’s listings here. Going by what I remember translating for serenesforest all those years back (And failing that, Wikipedia) here’s some of the reprised VAs I noticed:

Michiko Neya as Nyna
Kazuhiko Inoue as Camus
Kazu Ikura as Rickard
Yoshiko Sakakibara as Minerva
Hideyuki Hori as Hardin

Also, Shinichiro Ohta is credited as Julian. In BS Fire Emblem he is credited as Navarre.

Interestingly enough, it seems that in different drama CDs, the roles start to switch around. For example, in “Tabidachi no Shou”, Mr. Ohta is credited as Marth! Also, Michiko Neya is credited to Lena in the Fire Emblem anime OVAs. Multiple sources also say that Takehito Koyasu voices Navarre over the various CDs and the OVAs, which makes it odd that be’d be switched up for BS Fire Emblem.

Of course, this is a bit pending fact-checking, but hey, I gotta be trusting like Marth, yes?

In all honesty, I wish serenesforest had more articles about the CD dramas. (Course, I’d like them to expand and make some corrections on the BS Fire Emblem article as well, but for what it’s been for years it’s pretty decent.) Once I start putting up the “Tabidachi no Shou” drama on YouTube, you may see what I mean when I think these deserve a good listen – there’s some slightly interesting twists and alternate character interpretations in that one. With content like this, no wonder Japan has more fondness for the Archanea saga than the folks who only got the DS “Shadow Dragon”.
