1. Like you inferred, the important thing with these sorts of communications is that you just don’t come off too strongly in your inquiries, at least initially. You’re probably already aware, but the English Satellaview scene definitely isn’t the only one that’s had trouble coordinating with their Japanese counterparts and it’s in part just because of cultural differences in terms of how those talks are handled in Japan and other East Asian countries versus the West. I think both sides in those sorts of discussions are well-intended, it’s just that they’ve often lacked an intermediary that really gets what each side is thinking when things get tense. I’ve done a lot of work in arranging interviews with long forgotten Japanese developers for press sites, so I’d like to think I’m pretty comfortable in handling these sorts of inquiries. Definitely don’t hesitate to contact me in the future if I can help in that arena; I’m probably not as immediately knowledgeable about some of the intricate bits of what you’re after, but I’m very much so passionate about preservation in general and would be honored if my translator skillset could help out in any way.
