The Satellaview’s launch was on April 23rd of that very year, so this is just a bit less than a month beforehand. This is particularly interesting when you remember from the earlier Famitsu scans that the Satellaview had a delay.

The Satellaview marked a dramatic shift between the seemingly “doing it for the art” 24/7 neo-ambience St.GIGA and the Nintendo-era St.GIGA that tried to attract a more mainstream audience with it’s mix of popular music and videogame content. How well prepared was either side? I recall reading on Japanese Wikipedia than the fans of “Tide of Sound” didn’t take too well to the drastic re-imagining of their Satellite Radio station, although it doesn’t seem like there were that many of said fans if the Satellaview years were indeed St.GIGA’s peak…

St.GIGA as a whole is probably just as important to preserve as the Satellaview itself, being it’s… well… Mother? Father? Considering how BS-X resembles Earthbound, I’ll go with “Mother”. There, that’s my pun for this post! … Oh dear, I just compared Nintendo and St.GIGA’s relationship to a rocky, doomed marriage, didn’t I…?

So it seems I haven’t gotten around to search “St.GIGA” on NicoNicoDouga in a while.
